The Alliance Française is a state-approved organization, founded in 1883 in Paris to spread the teaching of French all over the world. Its network welcomes more than 420,000 students in 137 countries. It is a non-profit organization which is not affiliated to any political or religious organization. It is managed by a Committee composed of members, elected by a general assembly, and managed by a French national director. The mission of the Alliance Française de la Jamaïque is to teach French, promote French and Francophone cultures and reinforce ties between France and Jamaica.Language Center, Resource Center, Cultural Center, Interpreting, Translation Join the French speaking community Around 136 million people worldwide speak French as a first language. Moreover, roughly 110 million people learn French as a second or third language. French speaking communities are present in 57 countries and territories. Today, more than 200 million people speak French. It is the only other language, apart from English, that is spoken in the five continents. So what about you? A language of the Caribbean Together with English and Spanish, French is also the language of the Caribbean Region. French is indeed present in the waters of the Caribbean Sea (Guadeloupe, Martinique, Haiti, St Marten, Dominica...). Learning French will allow you to facilitate trade and communication with your neighbours when you visit their islands. Teach English in France! Every year, Jamaicans have the opportunity to go to France to teach English for 7 months, via the “Postes d’assistant Program”.
